Monday Madness

Hubby got a call on his work phone sometime during the night and left for work.

CJ my 2 year old has gotten into the girls little make up case and put all of it on his lips. Guess he figured he didn't need any make up anywhere else.

Kristopher my 1 year old has learned how to drink out of straws and stole CJ's juice box. After drinking it all, he just laughed. lol.

Cassie my 7 year old has to much energy this morning. I shoved her medicine down her throat and got it on the first try! Woohoo! I think she even had to help it down and took a big swallow!

Kailey my 6 year old, well she is just a trip like always. Silly girl.

Lilly the 10 week old puppy is currently in the kitchen playing quietly. Gotta love that dog.

Kitty Kat my what seems to be 20 lbs. cat is sleeping up here on the arm rest of the recliner next to me.

I'm tired. Its 8:30am. Can I go back to bed now?

I read your question about getting your child to swallow a pill. I have a horrible time, even as an adult. My daughter is in speech therapy, and used to be in feeding therapy, as well. In talking with her therapist one day, I mentioned that I, too, choke easily and can't swallow tings like pills. She told me the trick was to put the pill in your mouth, take a sip of water (or soda or whatever!), close your mouth, put the tip of your tongue up against the small bump behind your front, top teeth, and swallow without allowing the tip of your tongue to move. I have never choked on a pill since. She if you can talk your child through these steps. It has helped me tremendously. Hope that helps!

I also read your comment about pill swallowing. My son is absolutely terrible. He's 7, too. We put the pill in a teaspoon of peanut butter and he eats the peanut butter. I've also heard Chez Whiz works. Terrible to admit this, but the idea actually came from our vet and was for our dog, but it works on kids, too! As a side note, my dad was Air Force and we were stationed at Ramstein for six years a LONG time ago. My mom is a native to Germany and has lived back there for the past nine years. I miss Germany. I hope you enjoy it. Good luck with the pills!

Kristy,

I saw your question about Concerta that you asked Dawn (Because I Said So)...

Having 3 children with ADHD/ADD/ODD/BiPolar/PTSD and a myriad of other disorders, I know your pain when attempting to give meds. UGH!

In any case, I wanted you to know that Concerta comes in patch... no need to swallow! YEA!!!

It may be worth looking into.

GL!

Coming from Dawn's blog. My SIL is a speech therapist and she swears that using a straw is the trick. Something about the pull/sucking. Anyway, hope that helps!

Sounds like you had a wild Monday. How can CJ get into their make-up? Ha Ha Just remember these are very special times...cherish every moment. It goes by way too fast...believe me! I miss all that sweet kind of stress.
Love,
Mama
P.S. All these suggestions and info regarding Cassie's medication and ways to swallow that pill are great. That patch that was mentioned would be really cool!
Love ya,
Mama
