I have a friend of the family that has recently completed Law School! Congratulations Roger! Now he is ready to venture out into the business world and of course what a new business needs the most is a website! A family member referred him to me and he couldn't be happier with the outcome of his new website!

The History of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day began as a religious holiday over 1000 years ago and has evolved into a cultural celebration enjoyed by all faiths, Irish and non-Irish alike. If you want the quick Q & A of St. Patrick’s Day, see below.

Who was St. Patrick?

St. Patrick was born in Ireland in the 4th century. As a teen he was kidnapped and made a slave but he returned to Ireland years later as a bishop with a mission to Christianize Ireland. He did a darn good job!

Why are shamrocks the symbol of St. Patrick’s Day?

The shamrock became symbolic of St. Patrick because he used it to explain the meaning of Trinity to Irish pagans. He died on March 17, which we know as St. Patrick’s Day.

Green is also the symbolic color of St. Pat. What do you expect when Ireland is so aptly named The Emerald Isle?

Did St. Patrick really drive the snakes out of Ireland?

Evolution suggests that snakes never inhabited Ireland. It is an island and there is no way for snakes to get there. People believe it was not snakes, but demons, that he drove out of Ireland. And by demons they mean non-Christians.

How has this day been celebrated through history?

For centuries, the day was commemorated by attending religious services because it was a Holy Day of Obligation on the Catholic churches’ liturgical calander. Over time, it became more and more of a happy celebration. In 1903, the Irish declared St. Patrick’s Day an official public holiday and a source of great Irish pride.

For the past century, St. Patrick’s day is marked by parades, sporting events like the All Ireland Club Football Championships, eating and drinking. The day is so important to Catholics that special dispensation was given by the Pope to allow eating meat if St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday during the observance of Lent.

Kidz Turn

This week at church is a great program for the kids and adults, for ages 0 and up! It's called Kidz Turn and is such great fun for the whole family! We are having a blast every night!

Merry Christmas to Everyone in the Blogging Community!

Christmas Craft

Cut out foam light bulbs. Then use a glitter pen to write each letter of your child's name. Also use the glitter pen to draw on the end of the light bulb to make it look like it will screw onto the string. Hot glue your foam peices to your string and you have a beautiful string of lights with your childs name on it!

Our 1st REAL Christmas Tree

As you can see the kitten has already been playing with a strand of lights at the bottom of the tree. Silly cat. The kids all brought home Christmas ornaments that we hung on the tree and my husband purchased some candy canes that they hung as well. Its a beautiful tree. The thing I noticed the most was how soft a real Christmas Tree is. I had no idea!

Disney on Ice was beautiful!

Disney On Ice

I'm sooooo looking forward to going to Disney On Ice today with my two daughters, my mom, two sisters, and adorable neice. It's suppose to be all about the Disney princesses and I've already heard its great! Can't wait! We are going today at 2pm. We got rink side tickets so hopefully I'll get some great pictures!

19 Kids and Counting

Such a sad sad thing I heard today. Ms. Dugger lost her 20th baby to a miscarriage. I love this family. There children are so well behaved. They are debt free and don't depend on the government to survive like some large families do. The article I read sounds like they are handling the loss very well, which doesn't surprise me, they are such a strong family and they have so many to lean on during this rough time. To the Duggers,
"May God be with your during this hard time in your life and know that your sweet baby girl is wrapped in his arms."

My daughter Kailey had her dance recital tonight and she danced beautifully. She is growing up so fast right before my very eyes. A few pictures from the wonderful night:

My Sweet Sweet Kristopher

My sweet Kristopher gets halfway down the steps, stops, turns around and comes flying into my arms saying "i forgot to give you a hug mama, i love you" then takes back off towards the bus. He is such a sweet child and growing up so very fast! I love him!
